Yann Arthus-Bertrand é, talvez, o mais conhecido fotógrafo aéreo do planeta. Vendeu mais de 3 milhões de cópias, um pouco por todo o mundo, do Ensaio "Earth From Above" (A Terra Vista do Céu) uma década de fotografia que tentam captar todas as perspetivas do planeta visto a partir dos céus — helicóptero, balão de ar quente ou qualquer outra coisa capaz de voar.
Arthus-Bertrand procura desvendar a história por detrás da paisagem e não somente criar uma fotografia bonita. Os seus assuntos nem sempre são fotogénicos — as suas fotos mostram tanto a pobreza e o conflito, como a tranquilidade do verde; todo o seu trabalho expõe a invasora mão humana e os efeitos da sua empresa. O fotógrafo mantém um registo das coordenadas dos locais onde as fotos foram tiradas para que outros fotógrafos possam acompanhar a sua evolução ao longo dos tempos.
